Guan Eng ... Chief Minister with terorist and gangster mentality

The Chief Minister with a Gangster Mentality

Gangster mentality can be seen in people whose lives are ruled by criminal beliefs and actions. Just as there are different types of gangsters, the same applies to political leaders and politicians. Some have true diplomacy, elegance, and class while some are deficient in leadership quality, style, and character.

When a chief minister demonstrates a gangster mentality by consistently challenging authorities, police and anyone who does not conform to his ideals, expectations and plans, citizens are then ushered into a new era of rebellion and anarchy.

When a political leader lacks a bedrock of principles and values such as mutual respect, vision, social etiquette, and class, he can never be a leader in a class above others. Through time, people will gradually lose respect for him upon realization of his gross deficiency in eloquence, wisdom, self-control, and finesse.

To exacerbate matters, if such a Chief Minister loves riding on popular sentiments for political mileage via a cocky and arrogant attitude, is he capable of binding citizens together to develop consensus for unity? Can such a leader be a noteworthy role model for young people? Is he indirectly stirring a new generation of Gen Y rebels in the making, ever ready to go against the status quo at any opportunity for applause, fame via arrests and other brainless antics?

A Chief Minister’s political decisions and statements must be sensitive to public sentiments to uphold unity and harmony. He must assess the wind direction to frame a positive message that is guided by a strong moral compass.

However, Penang has a hotheaded Chief Minister who loses his cool easily by his confrontational attitude with media and police, which often results in full-blown conflict. As head of the state administration, he should seek solutions instead of creating more dissention.

Instead, his megalomaniacal habit is to flame the situation for political mileage to turn the citizens against the government. Perhaps he views Penang as his little kingdom where he is immune to police and legal action.

It is only fair that police should take action also against him. He is a threat to national peace and harmony.
