Penang BN chairman says chief minister should stop twisting facts and diverting the issue on water park venture.

GEORGE TOWN: The onus is on Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to prove that state government agency Penang Global Tourism (PGT) was not involved in the botched Wet World Wild (WWW) Adventure Park project, state Barisan Nasional chairman Teng Chang Yeow said today.

Teng, who is also state Gerakan chairman, said Lim should prove that all the media reports and video recordings revealing that WWW was a brainchild of Theme Park Concepts & Services Sdn Bhd (TPCS) and PGT were fake and fabricated.

Lim had earlier challenged Teng to either quit as state BN chairman or prove that PGT was involved in the disastrous WWW venture.

Teng told Lim to stop twisting facts and diverting issues and instead uphold his principles of competency, accountability and transparency (CAT).

“The state government has failed its own CAT test over the WWW fiasco,” Teng told reporters at the Penang Gerakan office here today.

Teng produced media reports and video clippings today to prove that the chief minister had announced that WWW was the brainchild of PGT and TPCS.

“The chief minister is now diverting the issue by challenging me to resign as state BN chief if I could not prove the involvement of the state government,” he said.

Teng is skeptical over the state government and PGT’s repeated answers that there were no losses incurred in WWW project.

“I did not ask for profit and loss account of the project. I only asked whether any allocation was spent,” he added.

WWW was closed early October, 10 months after its opening by Lim last Christmas, after strong waves damaged the park’s equipment.
