Is mayor pushing for plan to please developers?
Tony Pua wants to know why Alinah Ahmad refuses to listen to councillors about revoking the PJ Local Plan draft.
PETALING JAYA: DAP Selangor Chairman Tony Pua wants to know why Mayor Alinah Ahmad has refused to abide by the City Council’s decision to revoke the draft of the Petaling Jaya Local Plan.
He asked, “Is there a reason why the plan must be immediately amended to allow developers to benefit from higher densities without strict guidelines in place?”
Pua asked this in response to the Mayor’s insistence to push for the draft of the Local Plan despite the City Council’s decision to have it revoked due to various controversial amendments that could severely affect the city’s sustainability and liveability.
He also took issue with Alinah’s explanation that councillors could revoke a Local Plan but were powerless to revoke a draft proposal process.
Calling it a “recalcitrant retort”, Pua added, “If the councillors have no powers to amend their own draft, other than the state government itself, who else would have such powers?”
Pua who is also the MP for Petaling Jaya Utara reasoned, “City Council is and should be the originating body to propose any changes to the Local Plan for approval by the state government.”
Accusing Alinah of acting independently, Pua said she had ignored all earlier requests resulting in a Special Full Board meeting petitioned by the councillors two days ago.
Explaining that Alinah would refer the matter to Menteri Besar (MB) Azmin Ali, Pua expressed his confidence that the MB would “make the right decision to protect the interests of the people”.

Nampak cara dia serang YDP PJ itu sementang dia Melayu. Tiada pemimpin PR dari DAP atau PKR Sedia pertahankan pegawai kerajaan ini.
Padahal apa yang Tony Pua kata adalah sesuatu yang DAP amalkan.
DI Pulau Piang, DAP begitu rapat dengan Pemaju dan apa saja kehendak Pemaju dilayan. Selain itu, DAP banyak mendapat imbuhan dari Pemaju.
DI Selangor pun, berlaku projek seperti melibatkan Tropicana yang ada jari jemari DAP melalui Theresa Kok dan ia berkait dengan Pemaju Ivory Property, kroni DAP di Pulau Pinang.
Adakah Tony Pua benar mengkritik YDP PJ kerana rapat dengan Pemaju atau sebab tak ikut arahan bantu Pemaju pilihan DAP?
Ini hanya 'smokescreen" DAP untuk cover line....
